Hi there, looking for some advice.

I am preparing an Outland application to sponsor my Aussie common-law partner as a PR. We've been living together in Canada since Aug 10, 2016 (when he arrived). His work permit expires next August (2018), so we want to apply ASAP (since we're applying Outland, he can't get an OWP and he already has less than a year here..).

However, even though we are 'officially' common-law at this point in time, we have no lease agreement (as we're living in my parents basement) & the earliest "solid" evidence of proof of cohabitation that I can find is his Drivers Licence (same home address as mine), which was issued in November 2016. Unfortunately, he took his time setting up a bank account, getting his SIN, and was working a casual labour job in the beginning so had no paystubs etc.. the vast majority of our proof of cohabitation is from late 2016/early 2017.

Do you think we should wait until November to submit our application? Or do you think we are okay to submit now..? (we have tons of evidence of our relationship, text messages from August about his arrival, will get letters from family/friends etc. saying we've been living together since that date, just no "SOLID" proof until November)

What would you do in my situation?! Time is of the essence as we really want to get the ball rolling. Please advise! :)

bump! we have decided to wait until November to apply, when my partner's driver's license was issued (same address as mine). However, apart from affidavits (secondary I know), most other evidence of cohabitation is within last few months- do you think this will cause a problem? Or is it okay to start from November when our licenses are dated.

THANKS IN ADVANCE! :)

Have your parents draft up a lease agreement from the time he moved in with both your names.

It won't hurt, but may not have much weight. I would definitely wait until November, when you have official proof. Proof that does not cover a whole year can be used as evidence that your relationship is genuine.
