Proof of Cohabitation for Married Outland

It is a bit odd, but I can't come up with much evidence that my wife and I have been living together (for the past 7 years!). We never get mail where we live in Russia - the only thing we have is the registrations in our passports that list our address as the same. I could get letters that we live together I suppose, and translate, and notarize etc. But there is a list of in the checklist of what to submit to prove cohabitation, and I don't have

Get a notarized letter from the landlord/agency/ property manager where you live. This should suffice in place of a lease. The passport registration should count for the "important document" option.

Ok, but an Inland applicant has to reside with their spouse/partner sponsor. Outland does not...even if they are both in Canada, right?

Yes, I understand that the OP is living with his wife, but it's not a requirement if they are not applying under the `In Canada' Class (section 4 of IMM 5533 [Class of Application]).

The inland/outland checklist is the same. But most outland couples living apart just write a letter explaining why they are unable to get the required information from the checklist and provide other methods of evidence. Like canuck stated, get the notarized letter and copy of your passport registration.

Do you both have bank accounts with your address listed? I'm not sure if you get cellphone bills in Russia, if so, would that have an address? What about an employment letter?

Yes, I understand that the OP is living with his wife, but it's not a requirement if they are not applying under the `In Canada' Class (section 4 of IMM 5533 [Class of Application]).

While OP and spouse are not required to be living together to apply outland, the fact that they ARE currently living together means that they are required to submit the proofs. The checklist asks for those proofs if a couple is cohabiting; there is no distinction between inland and outland.

As per the checklist, if you are living together, you are required to submit the necessary cohabitation proofs, regardless of whether the app is inland or outland.

I am not married yet..as I plan to do wedding in nov 2017...I live in canada and she is in India....so how to explain this situation and what docs to provide as part of proof of relationship?

You need to follow the checklist. It lists proofs for couples that aren't living together as well.

But there does seem to be a distinction between Inland and Outland. Look at section 4 again and you'll see two options for a person that is in Canada:

1. I am currently living in Canada with my sponsor, and I am applying under the
Spouse or Common-Law Partner in Canada Class. (Inland)


3. I am currently living in Canada, and I am applying under the Family Class (not under the Spouse or Common-Law Partner in Canada Class).
I understand that I may be convoked to attend an interview at a visa office outside Canada. (Outland)

Even though there may longer be two different application packages, there are still two options, right?

There is no distinction between inland and outland when it comes to providing proofs. OP's query had nothing to do with applying inland or outland; the query was about providing proof of cohabitation.
