I am going for the Citizenship oath in a couple of weeks and just found out that unless I have Canadian birth certificate (which I obviously dont!) I need to apply for Proof of citizenship before I can get a passport aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand the Proof of Citizenship processing time is 10 months!!!   after which once you apply for the passport, you can get it in 10 business days

To be honest, I am fed up of the processing times and staring at ECAS day after day... Why would/ should it take 10 months to get a certificate when your citizenship application is already processed and approved and the proof of citizenship application form asks the same questions which you have answered on a million CIC forms before you get to this stage???

This is really insane. I feel like I will never be done with CIC EVER

You will actually get your citizenship card at your oath ceremony. The 10 month processing time is for people who are getting citizenship cards without having gone through the oath, for example people who got Canadian citizenship by heritage through their parents.
