I'm a Canadian citizen and my wife is a Chinese citizen.
Our little one was born in the US in 2019, and then we went back to China and filed the application for Proof of Citizenship at the Canadian Embassy there in July 2019, and received the confirmation of the receipt with the UIC in Nov. 2019. In January 2021, we received a request for additional supporting documents from the Case Processing Center and we submitted the additional documents per the request within a week.
Now I can see the status online showing "we started processing your application on August 24, 2020. This hasn't been changed in the past years, and the website shows they are finalizing the application in September 2020, but mine is earlier than it.
Now we are moved back to Canada and have already changed to the local mailing address. I'm eager to get our little one's citizenship in order to get the Child benefits for her, but she has no status here and her Canadian passport has expired as well. I've been trying to call the processing in the past weeks, but have never been able to reach anyone since there is always busy.
I'll highly appreciate it if there is anyone who has the same experience or has any suggestions on what I should do other than waiting?
