Proof of citizenship child born abroad in 1 week!!

Hi all, just wanted to share this news!! I have been stressing so much not being able to sleep regarding this since I need to travel ASAP and worried about my daughters citizenship status. I applied for my daughter’s urgent proof of citizenship certificate on the 12th and got an e certificate on the 19th! I am Canadian and my baby was born abroad. I applied online and uploaded documents in a file using google docs. Included itinerary and reason for urgency.

I also applied for an urgent LVP but idk if ircc still going to send me a LVP I hope I get the full term passport since I received the citizenship already.

Since you’ve already received the citizenship certificate, there's a good chance IRCC will process the full-term passport rather than the LVP, but it might depend on how far along they were in handling the urgent request. If you haven’t already, you could try contacting Passport Canada with your citizenship certificate in hand to ask if they can switch it to a regular passport application instead of the limited one.

That’s amazing news—congrats! Did you end up requesting the LVP before or after the citizenship certificate was approved? And are you planning to follow up with IRCC to see if they'll still issue the full-term passport now?
