Proof of Citizenship – How long to receive?

Hello,

Just wanted to know what peoples experience was in waiting to receive proof of citizenship. I've read 80% of the cases are completed in 5 months but I have been waiting more than 6.5 months since it was received. Did anyone have or hear of a case that took this long? Thanks.

1. We received your application for a citizenship certificate (proof of Canadian citizenship) on May 4, 2017.
2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on May 26, 2017.
3. We started processing your application on June 20, 2017.

Your application probably got sent to Program Support for further review. If you did not receive a Notice of Delay from the CIC, you can contact them to confirm this. Unfortunately, if your application got submitted to Program Support, there is no established timeline for processing, so you'll just have to wait.
