I have gone through the following link where they suggest the documents required for proving self-employment work experience

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/perm/express/intake-complete.asp

My friend has been working as a freelancer for an organization remotely for the last 3.5 years. He has monthly invoices based on which the client pays monthly. He works variable hours. Now he is planning the submit the following to prove his experience

1. Reference letter from the client in the cic required format
2. Invoices
3. Bank statement showing monthly payment
4. Bank remittance documents
5. Income tax certificate (which only shows income tax has been paid for the year)

Now he does not have business ownership (articles of incorporation or other evidence of business ownership). He had gone to a lawyer a couple of years ago to register a business but the lawyer told him since he was receiving monthly payments regularly and working full-time for a single client, He would not be considered a freelancer. Now I understand IRCC might not view this as such or accept this explanation, what is his option? What else can be submitted instead?

Can a notarized letter from the lawyer be submitted as proof?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
