My Canadian work experience
I have mentioned my date of appointment as my start date in express entry profile but I started working 25 days after getting appointment. My manager does not mind saying my appointment date as start date on the experience letter but I can see that this will account for difference in T4A amount (expected CAD 20,625 but actual CAD 18,683).

Please advise what should I do? Should I mention the correct start date on letter of experience?

Do not lie in your application. You risk a 5 year ban. Only list the correct dates.

The date when you actually started working should be the start date.

Even if your manager agrees to set that date 25 days earlier you are risking getting into unnecessary trouble.

Thank You (gave +1 to all you who helped) but there is just one more confusion.

I started working for this company from 9th June 2014 but my work permit ended on 18 May 2015. But I sent a request application to CIC asking them to extend my work permit without lmia. But I stopped working fir 1 month until I got to know that I could work even after my work permit has expired until I receive a decision on my application, so I worked till 31st August 2015 thus I completed my 1 year work experience in this way.

Do you think that the work I did after expiration of wp would count in Cec work experience cuz otherwise I am falling 25 days shotrt in one year experience?
Also the month(15 May 2015 - 15 June 2015) that I did not work should I mention that on my experience letter as well ?

Please advice

Hi Dasanadas,

Please refer this link for work experience under implied status (
http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/SOR-2002-227/section-186.html).

Also, go as per your T4A. Don't risk by giving false information. Go slow there won't be any troubles :).

Thank You JSN your link was really helpful so that means that my experience after work permit expiry would count for CEC.
Hi Del,
No I was working for a private company.

Thank you guys!

So how should I correct my start date now?
Should I explain this LOE that I mentioned my start date in ee profile?
Should I also include that I did not work for one month(just after expiration of work permit) in the letter of LOE?

This is what it says in decision letter :

Based on your application and accompanying documentation that you have provided, I have

carefully considered all information and I am not satisfied that you meet the requirements of the

Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and Regulations. Your application as requested is

therefore refused.

[X] After considering all the circumstances of your case, your application for a work permit

cannot be approved as requested as per section R203 of the Immigration and Refugee

Protection Regulations. You do not possess a valid Labour Market Impact Assessment and

Confirmation from Employment and Social Development Canada. Your prospective employer is

responsible for obtaining this confirmation.

[X] We also wish to advise you that your temporary resident status EXPIRED on 31 AUG 2015.

You may apply for restoration if, within 90 days from the expiry of your temporary resident status

The fact that it got refused is good news - i.e you can count your work experience in implied status.

Your reference letter should include two periods - the one from the actual start date to when you stopped working for the first time and another one from June 15th to August 31st

THank you so much! Wish I could give you one more rating :(
So I would mention two periods in my experience letter and write that I have entered the appointment date as start date in my EE profile.

Hi Guys!

But I have mentioned incorrect start date in EE profile, so it is ok for me to include the correct start date in LOE and experience letter and explain that I mistakenly put the appointment date as my start date.

Please inform!

it is up to you really how much risk are you willing to take and also its is upto the Visa Officer if they will accept it since the gap is almost a month (25 days).technically you shouldn't have gotten ITA for another 25 days .

That's the thing, you can explain that it was an honest mistake and that this mistake does not affect your CRS or eligibility. However, if you do not want to take any chances depending on your CRS you may choose to decline and get another ITA next week.

Up to you.
