Processing time taking too long

Hello Every one.
My application was transferred to New York office from Buffalo office on January 12, 2012, and the status of my application was changed from pending to processing.
Also I received an email from New York office on May 23 which asked to update my profile. Since then I have not got any message from them. So far my application passed 28 months.

So What should I do? Should I send them an email for updating my status?

I'd really appreciated if someone give me a suggestion.

it has been around 30 months that i sent my document i don't really know what is wrong with them
