Greetings!

I am a Filipina, single, 32 years old. and have been a labor and immigration lawyer since April 2010. I intend to visit Toronto from October 1, 2016 to October 16, 2016. I have no relatives in Canada and my entire family is in the Philippines. I submitted the following documents:

1. Certification of Employment stating that I have been employed since April 2011, showing that I have an annual salary of CAD30,000.00
2. Bank Certificate and Statements showing CAD6,200.00
3. Registration of Vehicle under my name
4. Vehicle Sales Invoice issued in my name
5. Certificate of Membership in Integrated Bar of The Philippines dated issued by the Supreme Court of the Philippines, Office of the Bar Confidant
6. Integrated Bar of the Philippines Membership Card
7. Certificate of Compensation Payment/Tax Withheld from the Bureau of Internal Revenue
8. Certificate of Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Compliance from the Supreme Court of the Philippines
9.Payslips from May 1, 2016 to July 18, 2016
10.Invitation Letter from a family friend showing that accommodations in Canada will be fully shouldered and provided by him (he is retired and has a family there)
11.Visa stamps on passport: US (unused), China, Bangladesh, 2 Japan visas (one is multiple entry up to 2021)
12.Travel to Thailand 3x, Bangladesh, China, Japan 2x, Singapore, Cambodia over the past few years
13. Cover letter stating that I just want to go to Niagara Falls, the aquarium, etc. and that I really have to return to the Philippines since I only have 15 days leave. I only asked for 15 days stay.

Submitted visa application online: July 29, 2016
Received do-not-reply email stating status has been updated: July 30, 2016 (submitted)
Received do-not-reply email stating status has been updated: August 3, 2016 (no updates)

My employment certificate states that my leave is only from October 1, 2016 to October 16, 2016. As a lawyer, I cannot practice my profession in Canada and practice of the profession is limited to the Philippines so I really have to come back.

According to the site, processing takes 10 days for Philippines. Does this mean 10 business or calendar days?

What do you think my chances are? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I think you have good chances of getting a TRV..... strong employment ties, continuing education, previous travel history, etc. You could've also focused on your family ties, any property ownership/lease agreement, etc. However, as you've already applied, you'll have to wait for a decision.

Times posted on the IRCC website are in calendar days (not business days).... and are only an estimate/average processing time

Cheers

Passport request letter from Manila VO can take 5-8 calendar days for straightforward cases. Looks like it's taking longer for you.

To me, it's weird that your bank certificate is too low given your salary.

I am also waiting for the result of my application.

I submitted the application July 28 (philippines) and last update was August 2.

I'm not sure if there are lots of applications or it's just taking longer for my application. The suspense is killing me.haha ;D  :p

Hi Bryanna, Bellaluna, alexjacq and charmainefrances,

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply to my query. It is very much appreciated! I received a passport request earlier. So this means it's approved, right? Thanks again!

You're almost there!

99.9% it's an approval, but you need to wait until you get your passport back

Oh great! Congrats. Your online application should read as "approved" a couple of days after you submit your passport.
