Hi all,
Hoping someone can advise what process I should follow to get my newborn daughter permanent residence. My family (husband, myself, 2 children) obtained PR status earlier this year. We are South African and applied through the Canadian Experience Class as I worked in Canada previously. We obtained the entry visas following which I discovered I was pregnant with my 3rd child. We had intended to immigrate to Canada in 2018, having a number of work commitments in SA to wrap up. Prior to entering Canada to "land", upon discovering I was pregnant with our third child, I contacted CIC to ask if we should add her and delay entry, explaining that we didn't intend to move to Canada right away and that we would have my baby in South Africa. They advised that it was not possible to extend the entry visas and that we should enter and then apply to sponsor my child after she was born. However, in starting my prep for the sponsorship process I see it clearly states that unless one is a Canadian citizen, it is not possible to sponsor anyone if you are not physically resident in Canada.
I'm not sure what our options are now, or what process to follow to get my daughter PR status with the rest of us. Any advise would be very much appreciated as I've emailed the CIC but not if a response as of yet.
Many thanks!

Yes - either you or your husband must be in Canada in order to sponsor your child.

Once you're ready to move to Canada you will need to apply for a TRV for the child to bring them to Canada with you. If the TRV is refused, you can try applying for a TRP. If that is also refused, then either you or your husband will have to travel to Canada ahead of the rest of the family to submit the sponsorship application from within Canada and remain in Canada while the sponsorship application is being processed.

Hi there
We are now at the point where we are ready to enter Canada. I have applied for a TRV for my daughter and it was declined because:
1. There was no evidence of a sponsorship application in progress and
2. They were not convinced my daughter would leave Canada at the end of the visa period.

Looks like I will need to go ahead as suggested and enter Canada and sponsor her - my husband will remain in South Africa with our 3 kids until we can bring her into Canada.

My questions are:
1. Once the sponsorship application is in flight, can I reapply for a TRV so my husband and children can join me in Canada or do I need to wait until the sponsorship is complete?
2. How long is the sponsorship expected to take (the CIC processing time estimator says the time is unavailable)
3. My husband and other 2 Childrens PR cards expire in August 2020. If they can’t enter before then because sponsorship takes longer then what would I need to do to get my husband and children in - rescind their PR status and apply for sponsorship for them again?

Thank you so much for the help!
