Procedure to withdraw a sponsorship application

Does anyone on this forum know the right procedure to withdraw a sponsorship application which is 'in process" at a Canadian mission overseas?

The sponsor must write a letter to CIC missisauga, and I believe the PR needs to write a letter to the overseas office. Missisauga will relay the information to the correct office after sponsorhip is withdrawn

Sorry I don't quite get you. Do I write a letter of sponsorship withdrawal to Mississauga, or the office overseas or both?

Only the sponsor has to write a letter. Sending it to Mississauga should be enough, they will inform the overseas office, but I would send a copy to the overseas office just to be sure. I would also send it by registered mail so that you have confirmation of it's receipt.
