Hi Everyone,
last week we received Sponsor Approval as well as a Procedural Fairness Letter for my spouse.
We need "sufficient evidence that you are a common-law partner (cohabitating for a period of at least one year at time of application). Acceptable documentation includes: declaration of common-law relationship, evidence of joint bank, trust, credit union or charge card accounts; jointly signed residential lease, mortgage or purchase agreement; insurance and/or beneficiary forms. This documentation must provide evidence dated at least one year prior to the date of your application."
We sent every proof that we had that we could think of (rent receipts for over a year, notarized declaration of common-law, joint bank account info, Internet bill for over a year with address and both names, driver's licenses with address) in the original application. Only the rent receipts and internet bill covered the whole year. I didn't have insurance and wasn't the beneficiary to my spouse's insurance.
I think the problem was that our rent receipts had no address - our landlords refused to sign them if they had identifying info - we were paying in cash so we accepted this. However they've agreed to get a notarized letter confirming our residency there after much discussion.
We don't have much more with our residential address. We had instances of mail theft & there is a police report filed on this matter which we will send. The rest is mostly paperless or goes to my parents' house (which is our mailing address).
Our landlords will get a notarized letter stating our residence, and my parents will get a letter notarized stating that we've been living together for two years, and that their house is our mailing address. We are getting a letter from our bank declaring that our joint bank account was opened 2 years before living together. We will send letters from family/friends/neighbours who can vouch for us living together, the police report on the mail theft and mail to our mailing address over the 12 month period. We will also send pictures that we have of us at our home.
Any other proof we should send, or any pointers on writing the explanation letter?
All insight would be appreciated! Thank you so much!
