Hello Everyone!

We are planning to hire a live-in caregiver from overseas to look after our 1 year old baby. However, we are currently living in a 2 bedroom apartment. Do we have to move to a bigger place to accommodate a caregiver or we can let our baby sleep in our room and the caregiver will have the other room? Thanks!:)

You need to show you would be able to accommodate your live in nanny, so you need a bigger place.

When you apply for the LMO, a description of your house (number of rooms, etc) are part of the application and another form includes a description of the caregiver's room/accommodation.

If the prospective caregiver is still outside Canada, you would have to advertise for the position for at least 14 days prior to submitting your application for LMO. You need to show the results of your recruitment efforts.

Please follow the links. Hope this helps.

Job_seeker thanks for the link! We trying to straighten things out before starting the process so there will be no hassle later! Btw if the caregiver is a registered nurse and had experience as a company nurse but been out of work for long time, does she need still to take additional training?

To qualify to apply she must either have six months of training in the last three years OR one year of full-time paid work experience in the last three years. How long has she been out of work?

Oooops...It's more than 5 years already:(
Unfortunately that's too long. She'll either need to take a six month course or obtain a year of experience to qualify.

Thank you so much.

And i have one more question. Am about to submit my OWP/PR application and am confused about the fee. Is the OWP fee is defferent from PR Fee? Like $150 for OWP + $550 for PR + another $550 for dependent (husband or kids) total of $1,250, did i understand it right or no?

Thank you so much and god bless us.
