Alright guys and gals, when it came to printing off the evidence like FB screenshots, Skype screenshots, etc., did you just print off in black & white, or use colour?

Silly question I know, but man, colour looks great! Unfortunately, most home printers nowadays burn through colour cartridges like no tomorrow.

Do you think it really matters?

Just curious what others did....

For our app, I "borrowed" the laser printer at my work to print off all our photos in colour. We arranged the photos 2 per page in a Word document with captions under each (date/place taken, occasion, who was in the pic, etc). I think in total we had around 30 pics... so 15 printed pages.

I would recommend to do colour. Just makes the overall appearance a lot nicer and the photos easier to view. Could also check your local print stores (like Kinkos) to check how much it would cost to print there.

For photos, I hand them printed out standard 4x6 at Blacks (photo shop). Everything else mostly sent in a B/W copy with the exception of a few originals (letters, valentine's day card, boarding passes, etc).

One recommendation - don't send in hundreds of pages of chat logs. Just needs few pages. They are fairly low on the priority list for CIC. Some people send in hundreds of pages and CIC just ends of shredding most of it. Your other evidence is very strong so you can take it easy on the chat logs.

As long as they are not too hard to read, black and white should be fine. You could also fiddle with the settings, make them lighter or darker, for maximum readability.

The only colour printing we did was for photos and screenshots of facebook showing pictures of us we uploaded on facebook.

Facebook chats, what'sapp chats, emails, skype logs, text messages, receipts, stamps on passport, etc. were all black and white.

I am guessing that a picture is worth a thousand words and they would not be very likely to really read our skype logs. I felt like the point of including them was including them - they'll leaf through it and think "ok, plenty of communication."

Also, some of our relationship proofs were returned to us, and while the photos looked leafed through (rougher around the edges, the clip we had used was gone) our 100+ page copies of handwritten love letters we had sent to each other were in the original clip and looked untouched. The rest of our proof was not sent back - I guess they went to the shredder? I say this only from personal experience, but I think our personal statements made a pretty convincing case, and we had plenty of happy looking photos. I am guessing that maybe they didn't feel a need to actually read all our proof (probably 300 or 400 pages of it).

So I'd say black and white is fine for most stuff. I'd prioritize and use color only for photos and maybe important facebook screenshots. The rest of it probably goes straight to the bin anyway.

10-4
As we talk every morning and evening on WhatsApp, we have literally thousands of pages, and those include talk about our families, the environment, religion (that whole issue of different faith), a ton of small-talk, some fights, and of course some unmentionable naughty bits that shoudl remain between her and I, LOL.

Maybe we should just grab a "Best Of" collection from each topic, as well as the like from email/FB, Skype, etc.

The "Best Of" is a good idea. Also spread it out so that you have like a few pages from each month (or close) so that is shows the entire duration of your relationship.

Interesting feedback, and corroborates what others have said about how CIC prioritizes evidence. I appreciate the feedback !

It's been a three year LDR, so there's lots of good stuff to choose from. Thanks again!

True, there is the argument for sending in everything to show how much documentation you do have if they ever wanted to go through it. It doesn't really hurt. However there was one person who ordered their notes and saw a comment about how the application "was too big" (I think the applicant sent in about 500 pages of logs) and they destroyed most of the chat logs.
