Hi Guys,

I'm in a little confused with my case, if anyone could help me out, I would really appreciate. I am eligible under CEC for filing my application. I'm residing in Canada right now on PGWP and my wife is in Pakistan with no sort of canadian visa/permit. I was wondering if anyone could answer me the following questions:

1- Can I apply immigration under CEC for myself and my wife with me being in canada and my wife being in Pakistan?
2- Do I have to bring her over here on visit visa before filing for immigration?
2- Has anyone of you ever done this before or have seen a similar case like this could please guide me?

An early response would be highly appreciated.

Thank you.

1. Yes. Your wife is considered a dependant, so you have to include her on the application and it doesn't matter whether she's in Canada or Pakistan.
2. No, it's not a must.
3. Search the forum for others who have done it.

thanks senoritabella.. appreciate your response :)... with reference to your answers, please let me know if u've idea about the following queries

1- Right now the processing time as shown in CIC is 14 months, would my spouse being in Pakistan increases the probability of delaying the process for me as well? (since her file might goto canadian embassy in pak for processing)
2- Will it help in my immigration processing times if i bring her over here on visit visa before i apply for immigration?

P.S. I am concerned about processing times because i'm running against my work permit expiry.

thanks again for your response..

1. I don't know for sure, but I would anticipate delays. It's not something anyone can control.

2. You can try for visit visa - if she can show strong ties to Pakistan and that she will return after her visa expires, she may get it. If your job is skilled(falls under NOC O, A or B), she can apply for a spousal work permit instead.

About your work permit expiring, ask your employer to apply for a LMO and if approved you can apply for a closed work permit. Note that if they hired you under thepost graduation work permit, they do not have to show recruitment efforts.
