Good day I am a pale studying in toronto as a assistant. I am planning to apply for PNP after my course with a job offer as per the international pathway for students. I have a really bad situation. I got married in 2016 in the USA (a US citizen), and I found out after a few days that she has another husband and kids. I started living at a different address. I asked for divorce, and she asked me for 2000-dollar lawyer fees for Dovirce, which I paid in 2016. She said divorce was completed in June 2017, and I went to my home country in 2018. I married another woman, and we have a 2-year-old baby. I was thinking of applying for PNP, and I heard we need a previous divorce certificate. I contacted a courthouse in Virginia State, USA, and they said no divorce was taken. I was worried, and I contacted one lawyer in Virginia, and he filed for divorce and completed divorce in September 2023 last month. What will my situation be if I apply for PNP with my current wife? One lawyer said your second marriage is not valid or something like that. I have proof from Landlord that from 2017 to 2019, I stayed in a different place, and even I left the USA permanently in 2019 (proof of exit from the USA and entry to home country ). I am staying with my current wife from 2020 until now, and we have a baby together. We have joint property, etc., so many things together. Could you please suggest what I will do now?
I heard a lawyer say you can apply only as a common law partner or something like that.
I'm not sure what my situation will be.
