Hi all,

Just looking for some insight of what to expect regarding my wife and I's application.

I (British) am being sponsored by my (Canadian) wife, we are in the process of completing the forms.

I have been married once before, at an early age which didn't work out and divorced 6 years ago. I married my wife now at the beginning of this year.

How much of a 'red flag' for the IO will my previous marriage be?

We are both early thirties, with no children and otherwise a simple case. Both similar education/religious/social backgrounds and have been dating for 2 years, living together in England since last October.

Would like to here from any other successful applicants who have previously been married and whether it affected there approval time line..

Thanks

Absoultly none you have to include your divorce certificate her name and birthdate but thats it.But as for a red flag no unless it was from a previous sponsoship but if immigration was not involved with your previous marriage then it has no affect,

Thanks iarblue,

No, my previous wife was English too, we married young, all seems forever ago now.

Will include all divorce papers and name, DOB as part of the application, we were just curious as to whether we would be under any 'extra' scrutiny as it was not our (my) first marriage. As if there wasn't enough to worry about as it were!

Whoever said buying a house/moving and getting married were the 2 most stressful things you'll ever do have obviously never applied for PR.... lol

Thanks again.

:D at your last line! So true! Just think though, if we can all survive the PR process for our spouse, I think our marriages can withstand anything!

I don't think you are going to have a problem. The fact that you are British and you have no children is good. Divorces and young divorces are common in Britain.

I am divorced with children, and we will definitely red flag because we are going through the Ghana office. It is not common for a single, childless Nigerian man to choose to marry a divorced mother of three. He is wonderful, and loves his step-children, so I am sure he will be able to explain if called for an interview, but I hope the interview is waived!

One thing I did when applying was have a letter of support from my ex-husband, as well as a wedding card from him and his fiancee, and letters written from all three of my kids telling about their long-distance relationship with their stepdad.

Best of luck to you! I'm sure it will go smoothly. We love Brits here. :)
