Previous entry to Canada on eta form

Hello,

I have looked for an answer to this but please forgive me if it is elsewhere in this forum. I am an Australian citizen applying for an eta and I came to the question "Have you previously applied to enter or remain in Canada?"

I visited Canada for a holiday in September 2013 but can't remember if we had to apply for a visa. I believe this was pre-eta. I have no record of a visa but I have visited Canada in the past...

Should I answer yes or no?

You answer yes because showing up at the port of entry is an application to enter.
