Previous Employers no longer exist

Hi All,

I have just created an express entry profile. Two of the previous companies that i have worked for have closed down now and i am claiming points for work experience from these 2 companies. In total 5 plus years of experience from these two companies i am claiming. In case if i get an ITA is it necessary to show the work experience as per the CIC required formats?

I have an experience letter which i have collected from these employers while I left the job. Will this be sufficient. Also since i worked in UAE, i can also show them the VISA page stamped in my passport as proof, but the job title in my visa is different from my actual job.

Please advise.

Yes, definitely you need to provide sufficient proof if you claimed points for it. There are specific points needed in the reference letter like hours (full time) rendered, job description and active contact info in case they decide to verify. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who.asp

You must show that you did the duties set out in the occupational description in the NOC. This includes most of the main duties listed.
If you can’t show that your work experience meets the description in the NOC, you aren’t eligible under this program.

My top of mind alternate is to get in touch with the previous immediate supervisor/manager to draft/sign a new, proper reference letter with the necessary info, can also serve as the contact person for verification. As they mentioned, description of duties is more important than actual job title. A separate letter of explanation can provide the details that those companies no longer exist. Note that it's a different explanation if you're simply unable to get in touch with the previous companies anymore.

you can only claim points for a max of 3. so no need to claim old jobs if they won't add to the 3 years
