Hello guys. My Canadian spouse had a previous common-law relationship and sponsored that person (7 years ago). Now, we are married and my question is: Do we need to provide a separation certificate? or our marriage certificate proves that former common-law relationship is over?
on the checklist there is declaration of severance common-law? Do we need this declaration? we also have previous tax return that was declared status = separated. Please help me. Thanks

I had a common-law spouse before marrying my wife as well. All you have to do is write up a declaration of severance of common-law and explain what happened and when. Sign and date, and tick the box...

Thanks. Do I need to get notarized it?

They told me no. I submitted mine without notarising it. They haven't complained so far!
