Hi,

I am preparing documents for local visa office. I have applied for "Federal Skilled Worker" to Sydney, Canada last week.
I am from India and staying in US since 2002 and my wife came to US in 2007. I am currently on H1-B visa. I have send the mail requesting for FBI certificate and local state police certificate which I believe I should receive in 2 to 3 weeks for both myself and my wife.

Do I need the police certificate from India also as this will be difficult to get as I am staying in US now??

Thanks

Indian PCC is fastest with your local police station. but, since you are not there physically, rule out the Passport office option.

if you have parents in India and your name appears on a ration card and your passport has the address of your parents self-owned house, then ask you father to apply for it on your behalf. Send a signed letter of authorization in your father's name. The verification guy will take extra chai-paani from him, but he'll do the job... it's worth a try doing this. parallely, apply in the local Indian consulate/embassy as well. I've heard Chicago takes time, but LA is quite fast.

I got my Indian PCC from NY embassy on the same day ( I had my Indian Passport renew from NY in 2007), so thy said i will get my PCC same day. But my husband's Indian pcc is still pending (will take 30 days for him). They have taken his original passport.
