Hi friends,

I need your advice if you know this scenario. We are preparing application for visa, by right, my kid will start primary this September, so we need to prepare a study permit for him. However as we are not in Canada yet, so what I should fill in for his application? Study permit application requires some information about school, letter of approve,... I totally have no idea. If someone knows this case before, can you please shed us some light?

Thank you very much.

Best regards,
Ryan.

Hi Ryan
I will share you my experience, I came as a temporary worker too, I just apply for a visa to enter Canada for my daughter who was just about to start elementary school. When I arrived to Canada they issued a visitor permit for my daughter where it states that she is authorized to attend to school.
I have applied twice now from within Canada for a visitor extension and these permits came with the same observation (authorized to study in Canada) No need to apply for study permit.
Hope it helps.

Thanks Margotte,

Did your daughter go there with you or you came first, then she followed later? my children will accompany with me, so if doing visitor permit, can you please advise what you filled for the section of "Details of Visit to Canada" last time for your daughter? how much funds is suitable for 3 years? and what is purpose of visit?

Thank you very much.

Ryan.

Hi, I came first, 2 months later I went to my country to bring my daughter and spouse with me, so we traveled together.
In the purpose of visit I filled “visit a family member” (me), We apply for her visa when I was in Canada.
In your case and if possible for you to give specific details you can fill that she will accompany a family member (father).
About the funds, as you are coming with a work permit and have arranged employment in Canada I don’t think they will ask much. Last time I had just about $3000 in my account.

If you are not from a non-visa exempt country you will need to apply for a TRV to enter the Canada from your home country.
