Preparation Time for new application

Hello All,

Yet another newbie question - I am just about beginning to prepare my application for the 2014 FSW program. On an average, what is the amount of time it took each of you to prepare the application, and all accompanying documents? From date of first preparing the application that is...

I am just starting things now, and my guess is that I will take another 30 - 45 days to get everything sorted out (IELTS, WES Assessment, etc. etc.) which means I will be submitting the application by mid September. Does this sound too late to get into the process? Have there been people here who have managed to submit the applications by this timeline, and still managed to be in the running?

Any inputs will be appreciated. Thank you.

Cheers...

IELTS and ECA are the biggest time consumers. Just send your documents for the ECA report asap, and get the next available IELTS date. In the meantime, arrange for other paperwork. You will be ready by the date you get your ECA report.

Completely agree with nskatcv, WES & IELTS are biggest, biggest reasons for the delay, check the FSW Forums and you will see why ;). You need to juggle these two to ensure that everything is complete within 45 days. So start with booking IELTS and preparing, 2nd attempt in IELTS will cost you too much time (may delay your application by 30 daysmore) alongside this you need to initiate the WES process which should take "20 Days" (more like 45 if you ask me)

You may face some trials and tribulations on the way but be positive and ensure that you get in the Application. At this time no one knows for sure when the CAP will be filled, so stay positive and hope for the best

Worst case if you dont get the application submitted by Sep or Oct if the CAP is filled you will have the documents ready to apply for EOI 2015 in Jan which is 3 months later :)

Either way its worth a shot!

I can share my story, it's a bit different as I applied from Russia.

First, my WES repot was ready within about 3 days after they received my documents. However, it took me about 45 days prior to that to have my diploma apostiled as it was a general requirement for educational documents sent from my country.

Then IELTS. It is absolutely no time and no chance to improve your English skills within this short time frame, but it is quite important to improve your IELTS skills which is completely different set of skills. I spent about 1 month on preparation and got good results.

It may also be a good idea to create a real immigration project (even in a Microsoft Project) and handle it as a Project Manager. I made a simple chart with a list of all tasks and subtasks and then put time estimates. Then I could see early and late start as well as early and late end for each of them. The most time-consuming tasks are then easily detected, obviously they are WES and IELTS as it was already mentioned above. But it is your personal project and sometimes there can be very specific requirements such as requesting original documents or duplicates if they are missing or something like that.

Thank you all. Very helpful insights indeed.

I've kickstarted the WES process - my university will send the official transcripts to WES in the next couple of days. Quick question on that - WES wants me to send them a clear photocopy of the diploma - is there a possibility to email them a scanned copy (clear high resolution copy), or does it need to be a printed copy mailed to them? Obviously email can cut some transit time :)

IELTS scheduled for August 16 (earliest available date in UAE that falls after some of my work trips).

Assuming things fall into place (which it doesn't most of the time) I am looking to send through my application packet by end of August. My NOC unfortunately though is a rather hot one 1112 (Investment Analyst). I have however performed duties mostly similar to 0013 (Senior Managers - Finance) and I could apply to this category (which seems less competitive) with some assistance from my employers on the reference letters.

What is the general view on choosing NOC categories?

Cheers...

I am not sure about the sending-by-email thing. You can begin by asking them through email, hoping they reply to that on time which you want to save in the first place.

NOC should strictly be chosen according to the job duties and responsibilities you had in your work experience. The match between your reference letters and the NOC description is one of the most important factor in the Federally Skilled Worker program.

You may not e-mail it.
