Prep for Express entry

Hello,

I understand that some of my following points may have been asked or answered already, multiple times even, but I wanted just to list my current situation as whole and ask for advice.

I am currently preparing to put forth my express entry profile and as of such I have started the following:

Tested for IELTS and passed with an overall score of 8

Sent my BSc in telecom (from Egypt) to be evaluated by WES

Started amassing funds for the PoF

My only issue is the last point, I have been through some rough times recently and do not have any savings, maybe 2000 CND at most. I was thinking of taking a personal loan from my secondary bank (which is Islamic, hence why I am not opting for my main one) and to have it deposited in my primary bank with the amount required (20,000 CND) and then to wait for 6 months and submit my profile.

My question is would Canada reject my profile since my funds are coming from a personal loan? I intend of course on full disclosure if required by presenting bank statements from all banks that I am dealing with. I only have my primary bank in which I receive my salary and I have a credit card with them, my secondary bank which is only a savings account and a third bank on which I have a car loan with a remaining amount that I have to pay of 10,000 CND. Would my position in this case be OK or do I have to raise funds without a loan?

Thank you in advance for your consideration and please pardon me if I am repeating what was already answered before.

I don't want to sound harsh. But, the reason for proof of fund is to make sure your will not die after landing. Trust me, $2000 will do you no good in Canada, needless to say that you still need to buy air ticket also. My advise, try to gather fund that will be yours instead of cheating them as of they are trying to harm you or something.

The minimum requirement will barely help you to survive for few month with bare minimum needs. Anything less than that is not recommended.

A little math for you:
- One way air ticket ~$1000
- Apartment renting ~$1000/month for cheap one + deposit first month last month ~$2000. That is given you can proof you have source of income, if not some will require you to pay the full 12-months up front.
- Bus ticket, phone subscription, internet subscription ~$300/month
- Food ~$200/month bare minimum, given that you cook.
- Many other little things.... You know.

I'm sorry but I don't quite get your question. I am applying for Express Entry and wish to go to Ontario. What are the streams that I may apply under? Sorry if I am not that knowledgeable yet.

I fully intend to keep the money with me* (edited) to use in Canada and pay my loan from my income. My intention is not to take a loan, apply and then pay it back all in one payment. I do understand that the monetary requirement is so that you can survive there and not land as a parasite or a beggar.

I would like to ask though, is taking a loan with the intention of paying the monthly installments normally while keeping the loan amount for use in Canada still considered to be cheating/scamming? I will be arriving, hopefully, in Canada with the amount that they want me to have and will utilize it there.

It will be an issue as I look wrt PoF requirements...

please take a look at this...

What we accept as proof

Funds must be readily available to you. For example, you can't use equity on real property as proof of settlement funds.

The funds must be available both when you apply and when (if) we issue you a permanent resident visa. You must prove to an immigration officer that you can legally access them to use to settle here when you arrive.

For proof, you must get official letters from any banks or financial institutions where you are keeping money.

Letter(s) must:

  • be printed on the financial institution’s letterhead
  • include their contact information (address, telephone number and email address)
  • include your name
  • list outstanding debts such as credit card debts and loans
  • include, for each current bank and investment account:
    • account numbers
    • the date each account was opened
    • the current balance of each account
    • the average balance for the past six months
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/documents/proof-funds.html

You have not highlighted anything w.r.t to your work experience. Do you have a minimum 1 year work experience full time 30 hrs/week or more ?

I mentioned that I do intend on full disclosure so I will be listing any existing loans/credit cards that I have. The amount required will be accessible at all times as it will be in my bank account. Would that still pose an issue?

W.r.t my work experience, I do have around 6 years of experience and am currently working on contacting my previous employers to get the required experience letters. I did around 45 hours/week to 48.

So what the above msg when I read translate e.g.

Current amount in your account: CAD 2,000
Loan - CAD 12,000
Total amount in your account now: CAD 14,000
Liability (because of the loan): CAD 12,000 + Interest or Profit(islamic banking)
Liability (credit card/other debts): -

How the case officer/analyst will review your Proof of Funds submission: CAD 14,000 - (CAD 12,000 + Interest or Profit(Islamic banking)) = Less than CAD 2,000.

I would not really suggest you to take loans to fulfill PoF requirements.
A lot of people are getting Gift Deed i.e. money from family (immediate relative) to meet this requirement. So I would suggest if this is possible use this route.

Coming to your work experience, I hope this work experience is within the NOC 0, A or B skill type ? https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/eligibility/find-national-occupation-code.html

Oh I understand now, thank you for clarifying that point and thank you for replying once again. I really did want to know what the viewpoint of the analyst would be for my case. So the loan route is out of the question then.

My NOC code is 2282, I believe. I work as an IT support engineer, basically the IT guy that comes to your office if the issue cannot be resolved through the phone (helpdesk). In that field I have around 3.5 years of experience.

Unfortunately my family's financial situation would not allow them to provide me a gift deed. One of the reasons that I want to immigrate is that I want a more stable life with better income and self-development. I live in the UAE currently and all expats are on shaky ground and cannot claim the same rights as nationals even if they stay for 50 years.

Would there be any other way rather than saving for 2 years? I really want to get to Canada ASAP as I am 28 now and I understand my situation would be less favorable if I am above 30 when I apply.

That is in NOC B, which is good.... I hope your employer provides you the supporting documents such a Letter of Reference, pay stubs etc

I am aware about the UAE, have lived therein the past for quite a number of years... The issue here will be there that it will be very tough to save a penny in Canada. Salary levels are not the same as in UAE and on top there a taxes... The only thing which is key here is social security and down the road citizenship (conditions apply, and is always subject to change)

Would there be any other way rather than saving for 2 years? I really want to get to Canada ASAP as I am 28 now and I understand my situation would be less favorable if I am above 30 when I apply.

I left all my previous employers on good terms and still know some people in those companies so hopefully that shouldn't be an issue. I am aiming to get experience letters which also show my salary during my tenure there.

I have no issues regarding saving money, my issues with the UAE is that almost all companies have higher management which is exclusively emiratis who deny any non-emirati employees to climb the ladder due to an "emiritization" rule they apply on all public and private companies. As of such, you may be working as an IT engineer and get, say, 8000 AED per month and an emirati who would be in the same position would get 20,000 along with many other benefits. I grew tired of this favoritism and that is why I want to leave the country.

For me, ensured social security and potential citizenship outweighs any pros here in the UAE.

Also, what score? :D

People interested in immigrating to Canada to live and work on a full-time basis, who meet the criteria for at least one of these immigration programs, can formally express their interest in becoming a permanent resident of Canada by creating an Express Entry profile.
Once added to the Express Entry pool, candidates will be scored according to the program's point-based Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), and this score will determine the candidate's rank within the pool.
People with the highest scores will then be invited to apply to immigrate to Canada as permanent residents.

How Express Entry works
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/works.html

Minimum Eligibility Criteria(check your eligibility) https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/come-canada-tool-immigration-express-entry.html

If the above link mentions that you meet the MEC, use this link to Calculate Express Entry Score: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp?_ga=2.68819473.1217482491.1532983991-1998346404.1515446846
(Here you will have to put in your IELTS score, WES evaluated ECA (1 Bachelors degree or 2 or more Bachelors degree or Masters degree, Number of years of experience, etc.)
Remember to qualify for EE, you need minimum 1 year(continuous) and maximum points you can claim for foreign work experience is 3 years(in the last 10 years). So you need to get offer letter, letter of reference (with job duties, number of hours worked, designation and salary) and pay slips(from one or more organizations where you worked for a total of 3 years+). rest of the balance 10 yr work exp will be required to be mentioned but in personal history(you dont need documents for this) .

You can also refer to how many points you can score for each instance: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/eligibility/criteria-comprehensive-ranking-system/grid.html

All this will require a lot of time and patience on your side. I would not advise you to spend your hard earned money on consultants/lawyers because they add zero value... as IKEA in Festival City says: DIY - Do It Yourself and ask questions to forum members here...

No question is stupid your questions only provide us to get you better answers... :)

and have a nice meal & sheesha in Hadoota Masreya ;)

Thank you for the very comprehensive answer and for the time you spent on gathering it. Will check the links and update the thread with my results ASAP.

You seem to have known your way across Dubai quite nicely, will definitely go for the meal but I'll have to exchange the sheesha for a milkshake or something :D

I got the below:

Core/Human capital factors
  • Age = 110
  • Level of education = 120
  • Study in Canada = undefined
  • Official Languages = 133
    • First Official Language = 133
    • Second Official Language = 0
  • Canadian work experience = 0
Subtotal - Core/Human capital factors = 363

Spouse factors
  • Level of education = 0
  • First Official Languages = 0
  • Canadian work experience = 0
Subtotal - Spouse factors = 0

Skill transferability factors
Education
  • A) Official Language proficiency and education = 25
  • B) Canadian work experience and education = 0
Subtotal = 25

Foreign work experience
  • A) Official Language proficiency and foreign work experience = 50
  • B) Canadian and foreign work experience = 0
Subtotal = 50

Certificate of qualification = 0

Subtotal Skill transferability factors = 75

Comprehensive Ranking System formula
Subtotal Core/Human capital + Spouse factors + Skill transferability = 438

Provincial nomination = 0

Job offer = 0

Study in Canada = 0

Sibling in Canada = 0

French-language skills = 0

Subtotal Additional points = 0

Grand total = 438

Is this good or bad? I am currently single although there are plans for marriage but I am not sure whether to do so before immigrating or after. It would seem having a spouse does raise your score but at the same time it would be difficult to amass funds for both.

438 is a good score first of all... but currently the draw is hovering around 440+ mark...

Here is the last round of invitation...
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/submit-profile/rounds-invitations.html

You also take a look at the previous rounds...
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/submit-profile/rounds-invitations/results-previous.html

So you are there, but just falling short by a few points... This can be improved.... How? through a higher first language score and/or second language(French) score......

Spouse maybe able to contribute points in terms of:
-Education(say a PhD or master degree or 2 or more bachelors degrees)
-Language scores
-Canadian Work Exp

But yes I agree with you it will add to the stress of PoF, but its only an increase of CAD 3056(approx AED 8,600)
