Hey folks,
I have a friend who came to Canada (BC) with her husband, she came with a student permit and he came with a work permit.
He found a job and she is studying English only, on a college course.
She got pregnant and is about to give birth in a couple months, but she's concerned about how long can she stay on leave of her course.
We tried asking Services Canada but they only take care about the maternity leave itself, which isn't the case since she doesn't work.
So we tried asking CIC, they said she can only stay on leave for the duration of the course summer break time, but that's not the case! It's not a regular college course, it's an English course, it doesn't have this break.
It's very hard to find someone on CIC willing to help with this, it's not very clear. They said she must be enrolled on the course or she may lose her student permit, if she does her husband loses his permit too and they'll have to go back.
We've heard about something that she could get a visitor visa so she could maybe pause her studies for 6 months, but that wasn't a very clear information either...
Would anyone know the answer to this? Has anyone experienced anything similar?
Thank you.
