Hi,

I need help to figure out which VISA would be the fastest and easiest to get so my wife can get here to CANADA as soon as possible. I am Permanent Residence from Philippines who lives in Edmonton, Alberta. My wife is 2 months pregnant and I want her to be here ASAP. I filled up all the forms needed for her to come here. However, she can't have X-ray which I believe is a mandatory to get PR approved.

We both decided to have the baby here if Immigration permits, due date is 1st week of October, I am wondering which Visa should I get that won't require medical exam. Should we apply Visiting Visa with LESS THAN 6 MONTHS of stay or Visiting Visa with MORE THAN 6 MONTHS of stay?

From the forum, I read about if we are to apply for more that 6 months, she might need to undergo medical exam. Also, if visiting visa with less than 6 months of stay does not require medical Exam, is there a chance we can extend her stay before or after the 6th month, so she can stay here longer? for sure she wont be able to fly back if we won't be able to extend her stay here.

Thank you in advance!

Hi

Unfortunately, with a spouse in Canada and a PR app in process, the chances of her being granted a TRV are very low. A person must be able to show that their ties are stronger to their home country than they are to Canada.

She can apply for the TRV but you should really plan for the child to be born in the Philippines.

Hello Kabayan! There is a slim chance that she'll get approved for a TRV. She needs to prove her strong ties in the Philippines. But since you're here and you are the husband, it just proves that her ties within Canada is stronger. She can definitely try to apply for a visit visa of course, but you have to satisfy the VO that she'll go back to the PH. (and I guess , this is not the intention, right?)

The maximum stay of a visitor in Canada is 6 months.

What I suggest, is to let the child be born there in the Philippines , why?

It is cheaper.. If your wife will be here and give birth, since she is a visitor, you have to pay for all the expenses.

Is her PR application already on process? This is another question you should answer so we can better assist you..

Hi, Thanks for the response, We can go back to Philippines and have the baby born in the Philippines, that is not an issue, I just want to be with her that is why I want an express process of VISA - whether TRV or PR. I just went home a month ago and can't leave work and spent time in the Philippines until she gives birth.

Also, we haven't submitted the forms as I was thinking we could do that once she comes here if TRV will allow her to stay for more that 6 months.

I don't think there is an express TRV or PR application... unfortunately.
