Hi! I'm a single mom,has a daughter in Philippines.. I'm currently working as a live in in caregiver under work permit that ends my 24th month on october this year 2012... I got pregnant and I'm in my 14weeks now.I have a boyfriend who is an immigrant and willing to marry me..my questions are:
Is it necessary for us to get married before passing my application for open permit and permanent residency?
What's the best thing for me to do before passing my application?
Do I need to finish my 24th month 1st before applying maternity live? Coz my employer doesn't know about my situation yet.I'm afraid she might terminate me I she will find out.
Pls help!

You must either be married or common law (common law = have lived together for a minimum of one full year) in order for your boyfriend to sponsor you.

I'm going to assume you're not common law since you can't be living with your boyfriend if you are a live-in caregiver.

So yes - you will have to get married before you can submit the application for PR and open work permit.

Thank you so much for the reply.
Is the processing will take long?or it's still the same? I'm worried also if it will affect my daughter who's in Philippines that will be coming here if I hot my pr..I just hope it won't prolong the process just by getting married or changing my status..I want her to come here as soon as possible,if gods permits.

When should I also apply for maternity live? My due is on Jan 2013.
What if my employer terminate me if she will found out? What should I do?

If he will sponsor you as a spouse category it will be faster and you can include your daughter as your dependant and she will be included in the application, the processing will take longer than those without dependant outside of Canada because they're going to do your daughter the same time as yours..

If you get married now then there's nothing for you to be worried about your employer..
