Hi, I am in Canada as a temporary foreign worker (TFW). My husband is also a TFW with a spousal open work permit. I have been living and working in Canada since August 2010. My husband and I are both full-time employed workers. I am classified as a person of extraordinary ability and my husband is considered a professional. My husband's contract is 52 weeks/year while mine ranges between 40 to 46 weeks/year. My current contract ends in late May, I have already signed a new contract for next cycle, which starts mid July, and have a verbal contract offer for the following cycle.
I have recently found out I am pregnant. My work permit expires in early July. Are there any legislation, rules, or laws that indicate I would not be granted a new work permit because I am pregnant and would be going on maternity/parental leave early into the permit timeline? Do I need to disclose I am pregnant when filing a work permit extension? If I was to be denied, both my husband and I would be out of work.
I am naturally nervous about being pregnant with the possibility of losing all health insurance.
Please help.
