Hi,

My husband (from New Zealand) was in Canada on a two year visa. We got married last December and have found out we’re expecting our first child sometime next January.

My husband works full time at an accounting firm here & makes good money. I have been working part time & am primarily a stay at home wife. How much I made didn’t matter because I was only sponsoring him. How does this change now that I’m pregnant? I won’t be able to find a full time job or be able to afford my husband and child. His job has full benefits & has been sustaining us perfectly fine the last two years. We share all our accounts.

I’m major panicking at the moment. I don’t want to raise my baby without their father.

We obviously have to report this as it would be seen as misinformation, but I’m just at a loss and heartbroken.

Congratulations and don’t worry. Just clarify where do you live right now? Do you live in same country as spouse?

There should not be an issue with inland. When does his visa expire?

his current work visa expires next spring, but if I remember correctly he will be able to apply for another open visa as the sponsorship is being processed.

I was hoping it might be different because it’s inland. He is our provider so I don’t have the funds to show that I can support him & a baby for the next three years. The child will be born in Canada & be eligible for OHIP.

I guess we should show proof of my husbands salary and that he receives benefits from Manulife at work.

I just hope this doesn’t make me ineligible to sponsor him.
