Hi! I just want to ask regarding my friend's status. She is under the LCP as of present, but her husband came here 5 years ago and lost his status. She now got pregnant by her husband. What do you think should she do? She will be applying for OWP by the end of the year.Will she be entitled for the maternity benefits? and can she not put her husband's name when she registers her baby after childbirth? please reply.thanks!

She is entitled to maternity benefits as long as she has worked enough hours to qualify. She needs 600 hours in the last 12 months.

thank you Leon for your reply. However, i also need answer to my other question. Her husband is out of status when she got pregnant and will wait for her filing for PR to get legalized in Canada. Will this affect her application and when she gives birth, is it ok to put the father's name under the child's birth record? She has other children at home and when she filed her LCP visa in her home country she didnt declare her husband is out of status in canada.
