Pregnant and Polish! Visiting Canada while pregnant / birth / visa? ?

so here is the scenario:

I am Polish and my boyfriend is Canadian. We will travel to Canada when I am about 7months pregnant, and plan to stay there for about 6 months.

Immigration questions:

I understand that as someone from Poland I can stay for 3 months .. even up to 6 months with no VISA or any paperwork. Who decides this? Is it up to the discretion of the border guard when we fly in?

If I want to stay for example 7 months - do I have to then apply to do this? We really will be coming back to Poland after around 6 months but would hate to have a bunch of hassle if we stay 10 days extra (over 6 months) for example.

If I fly in on a one-way ticket (since we want the flexibility to decide when to fly back 6 months later) will this cause problems?

As I will be visibly pregnant when arriving, do I need proof of health insurance?

Health Insurance questions:

We don't want to rush marriage hihi but… if it will save a $10,000 or even $80,000 (as I read elsewhere) hospital bill in a bad situation….

Then we have to go Spousal sponsorship route, proof of residence, and then apply for OHIP??

I have heard Ohip takes 90 days to process application - any more info on this?

Marrying your boyfriend won't give you access to OHIP. You won't have access to OHIP until you have become a permanent resident and lived in Canada for three months. If you are already pregnant, then you don't have enough time to become a permanent resident before the baby is born. And unless you purchased insurance before you got pregnant, you aren't going to be able to purchase insurance that covers the pregnancy and birth. Are you already pregnant?

CBSA at port of entry decides duration of stay. One way ticket will most likely cause refusal of entry. You can extend your stay beyond your authorized period from within Canada, you dont have to leave and come back for that.

Scylla is right. You are not eligible to get a private insurance coverage that includes Maternity benefits if case you are already pregnant. Meaning that delivery, regular check ups, pre-natal care, etc. will be paid for from your own pocket.

The only thing you can get is a Medical Emergency Insurance that will cover pregnancy related emergencies like bleeding, miscarriage and abdominal pain up to the 31st week of your pregnancy period.

First of all Check with Airlines, they don't allow foreign pregnant(after certain time eg 5 months) females to fly even they have visitor visa.

ask your bf to go to hospital to ask about expenses in your case , because im sure he will have reduced expenses , we have already this in Quebec.

also Spousal sponsorship will take some months, please check processing time.
