Many of the late 2014 applicants are receiving PPR/CoPR now, congratulations to all those who have received it.

For remaining, hope we all receive it soon.. :)

Most of us are aware with PRE-landing preparation - you just need CoPR and visa to land. In addition, an ID proof, proof of funds might be asked at the Point of Entry.

Can anyone help with 'what needs to be done' after landing is completed ?

- wait for PR card
- get your SIN updated
- get your health card

............... ????

anything else that can be added to this list ?

::) thought this might be helpful for some of us..

Yes, banks should be updated with the new SIN number too.

In some cases, you may need to update your drivers license if the temporary permits are about to expire. At least that's my case.

Great idea this post Pearl1. My husband and I were just talking about these things yesterday.

let's keep it up to the top then, so we can share as many "required changes" as possible.

- get back to school, if you wanted to :D :p

First, get your new sin number.

Then apply/renew for healthcare
Update bank and work with new Sin number and new status. Also update any education institution to which you are registered if applicable.
Recreate your my CRA account and my service canada account if collecting EI. Those accounts are linked to your old SIN number and will be closed when you get the final SIN number. You need to reopen them.
Wait for PR card.

Get a permanent SIN number
If you're arriving soon before CRA tax return declaration (April 30), better wait after that to avoid issues.

Provide your new SIN to banks and employers (even former employers)

Update/get Health card/driver license with COPR

Wait for PR Card.

Consider to open Registered Savings Educational Funds for your sons, Government it's adding some money (PR and citizens only).

If you have a Canadian born child ask your bank about federal and Provincial grants (child SIN required)

What is the point to let the banks know about our new status? What does PR status has to do with them?

Because some banks do not want to give you a credit card or mortgage, etc. when you don't have solid status in Canada. But this also always depends who you meet in the bank.

Exactly, my first bank in Canada refuses to give me more than a low limit on my premium card because of my status, while other banks have given me much higher limits. I know Scotiabank won't provide credit unless you're a PR.

Mainly because your Temporary SIN will expire.

CRA will know your new SIN immediately, but you need to provide the permanent SIN to your bank (and employer) to update his registries, because banks are providing some information to CRA (interest earnings, TFSA, RSP...)

Hi All,

This is a very good thread...recently I have completed landing, got new SIN, updated health cards, employer....I will update my bank as well.

Similar to ECAS, is there a website to track our PR cards process ?

Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

Has anyone filled a B4 (http://www.cbsa.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/b4-eng.pdf) form for goods to follow ?

Anyone who was inside Canada and filled this form to submit while landing ?

When you go to ECAS, from the drop down list there's an option for PR Card. I guess you can check that from there, I tried but it said it was unable to find my record. I guess I have to give it more time, I landed just this week. It says it will show the info only after it has started to be processed.
