Hi Everyone,

I have a few questions regarding the express entry process. We are at the pre-ITA stage and are filling out the profile. I know this question has been posted multiple times. But just wanted to get an explicit answer from an expert here before we submit the profile for Express Entry.

I am currently the secondary applicant with 6 years of work experience (all non-Canadian work experience)
  1. In the pre-ITA stage do I need to enter my work experience? Many people have told me that I can leave the work experience section blank and once I get an ITA I can enter everything in the personal history section since I am not getting any points for this. I am a bit uncomfortable doing this since that would mean I am telling the Canada government that I have no work experience in pre-ITA stage. Has anyone successfully got an approval with this strategy
My wife is the Primary applicant. She has a PhD. from USA and a Bachelors degree from India.
  1. We got the WES evaluation done only for the PhD. since we were told that if highest degree was from USA you don't need to get the WES evaluation done for the Indian degrees. In the pre-ITA form should we enter her educational credentials for the Bachelors in India as well? In post ITA stage it will ask us for WES documents which we will not have. Many have suggested to enter only PhD. in pre-ITA stage and put the Bachelors degree in personal history section. Has anyone successfully followed this strategy?
  2. She has 6 years of work experience across 2 companies, one with 5 years and the other with 1 year. But under EE you will get points for maximum only 3 years of work experience. We have a solid reference letter for the 5 years of work experience. My question is that in the pre-ITA form should we declare all 6 years or should we declare only 5 years as work experience and post ITA put the remaining 1 year in personal history?
Please let me know if anyone has faced the above situations and successfully followed a strategy and gotten an approval. Multiple previous posts on this portal have answered this question but it is a bit confusing as people say we can easily put the above details in the personal history post-ITA.

However, its not clear how should we enter these details (or should we enter them at all) in the pre-ITA stage?

Please let me know

Thanks

You, as a secondary applicant don't claim any points for employment so you don't need to mention it and bother getting recommendation letter. Even if you are telling the Canadian government you have no work experience it make ZERO difference, Only points matter.

If you haven't done your ECA yet you can't create a profile pre-ITA because you will have to provide the reference number. After u get the ECA, you will mention that your wife has a pHD (or whatever the ECA report considers it) for which she will claim points. Of course the other degrees will be mentioned in the history but you only need equivalency for the degree you are claiming points for.

No need to bother with the 1 year of experience it will only complicate things. Just mention it in personal history. You're not getting any points for it. Immigration is a points based system, don't worry about how it feels...

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. So I understand that I will not getting points for work experience as a secondary applicant. My question is specifically -

1. What should I do in the pre-ITA form where they ask for work experience? Should I just put the work experience as "No work experience" and then subsequently after ITA, I mention the work experience in the personal history? OR alternative option is I mention work experience in pre-ITA form and then post-ITA I move it to personal history??

2. Same question for the 1 yr work experience? Should I not mention it all in the pre-ITA section and post-ITA I just mention it in personal history?

When does the typical express entry draw happen? Is it on Monday or Wednesday? I think the next draw is next week. I will not be able to submit my profile by before Monday night so I wanted to know whether I will be too late to be considered for the upcoming draw? Please let me know

Just keep it in personal history. Only put things you're claiming points for pre ITA
