Hello everyone, I am screwed.
I applied for study permit through one of an agent from my country. She put my marital status as single whereas i am legal married from my country and i have my registration papers. and i realised that my marital status is single when i was applying for my PGWP cos thats when i opened my old immigration file to take reference. I was afraid that cic will kick me out and hence i lied saying that i was single. but now i want to apply for PR and im confident that they will definitely find out about this. what can i do?

I dont want to get deported. same thing happened to my husband but he will be applying for his PGWP next month and he will plead guilty in his file.

but any suggestion what i can do and how i can save myself from getting deported.

You need to be honest in your PR application about your marriage status and hope for the best.

Be honest in your PR application and if you feel like giving to CIC some explanations to avoid misrepresentation, write a letter explaining this mistake.
I personaly know someone in the same situation (the applicant was divorced) who explain the situation in her PR application and things went well.
But we also know that it depends on the officer.

yep, be upfront and honest with IRCC. I can imagine the problem may arise when you report previous applications with IRCC and your marriage cert dates don't match up.

thank you everyone for all replies. But do u think they will forgive me for lying almost 2 years? I really feel sorry but now i have advanced really well in my company. from cashier part time to accountant full time. it will be extremely depressing to be deported.

Everything you tell us, write it down in your letter for CIC.

Be humble, acknowledge this mistake, explain how sorry you are and ask them to 'forgive' you.

But please, be honest regarding your marital status, even though it's in contradiction with your previous application, because if you keep lying in your PR application, CIC will find out very easily.

Keep faith.
