If your citizen spouse is only 'visiting' you then I am not sure that it qualifies as accompanying in the terms you are trying to put it. I would delve into this quite deeply before I would try to apply those days to my PR RO count.

If you are wanting to ensure the safety of your PR, then you need to have more time spent inside Canada so you don't have to try to 'count' days that may not count for your purposes.

You can try it but if the PR never lived in Canada, it's unlikely that the wife and kids can spend so many holidays with him that he still meets the RO. They would need 5 months per year.

There are however other options in the situation.

1) The wife and kids temporarily join him where he is working. They spend 2 years living with him and he will meet the RO again.

2) He loses his PR eventually due to not meeting the RO and applies for a multiple entry visit visa in order to be able to visit his family. His wife can sponsor him for PR again if they wish but if he is not going to move to Canada or his wife is going to move to him in order for him to meet the RO, he will eventually lose the new PR too.
