Hi,
My current location is India and i am planning to apply PR under CEC category. My question is - Would there be any consequences if i do not apply PR for my spouse in this application. The reason i am thinking this - Once i am granted the PR, i will be travelling alone for job search. My spouse would be joining me once i get a decent job to support the family.
Incase things go wrong, i will also lose the application fee for my spouse which i can save at this moment by not applying for her. I can always apply for her PR in family class once she is there.

I also have a son who was born in Canada. There will not be any issue him traveling any time.

I believe only my details will be there in general application form... right?

It is mandatory to include your spouse in the application, even if she is not accompanying you to Canada. That means pay the application fee and RPRF fees, if asked. If you do not include her now, you will not be able to sponsor her PR application in the future.

So idoes it mean - i will have to pay her fee even if i mention in the generic application form that she is not accompanying with me?
and i will have to complete all the formalities - forms / PCC everything?

one more thing - My son is Canadian. Do i have to fill his details too in the generic application form as a dependant?

Yes - you must mention her in the forms. And she must complete the medical and PCCs. This is mandatory. You do not have the option of excluding her from your application.

You must mention your son in the application but since he is a Canadian citizen he won't need to pass the medical.

ok. Thank you very much for the response.
One more thing - At this moment i have everything ready apart from her PCC. Should i go ahead with the application form OR should i get her PCC first?
It generally takes 1-1.5 month to get the PCC here if everything is in order. Should i wait for that time or apply PR immediately and send the PCC later (when asked).

PCC can be submitted after you received your AOR via email. AOR is received approximately a month and a half from application date.

ok. I am sorry for all these silly questions. Just wanted to make sure that i do not make any mistakes while filling the form.
I don't need to wait for thier request on PCC, i can just submit it as soon as i get AOR? I was not aware that PCC can be sent thru email, dont they need the original copy of the same?

Sorry if I was not clear in my earlier response. PCC and language test results are the only original documents that are required in hard copy. You will have to mail them at the address provided in your AOR email. Can't remember the address right now, but it is 219 Laurier, Ottawa.

Got it. Thank you very much maniac2403.

1. Im my application i am saying my spouse is accompanying with me. So that means i am applying PR for both of us. Spouse as depandant.
Would it be a problem if she does not travel with me to Canada and decides to join me after 3 months.

2. Incase i say my spouse is not accompanying with me, i still will be paying the application fee and RPRF fees. What does it mean? When i file PR for her later, there will not be any fee applicable for her.

3. Should i include may parents / siblings too in the general application form?

No, problem, she just needs to enter within the time allowed in the immigrant visa that will be issued. It is typically a year.

2. Incase i say my spouse is not accompanying with me, i still will be paying the application fee and RPRF fees. What does it mean? When i file PR for her later, there will not be any fee applicable for her.
Since you will be including her in the PR application now, you won't need to pay it again at a later stage, provided she enters Canada within the time her Immigrant visa expires

3. Should i include may parents / siblings too in the general application form?
Only Spouse and dependent children can be sponsored for a PR. You can sponsor your parents with the Family Class application at a later date.
Please see inline.

Hi

Ok, I think it has been made clear.

If in the application you say your wife will not be accompanying you then CIC will want to know why.

If you apply without her included in your application and you change your mind later then you will have difficulty. Apply and pay the fee for both you and your spouse. When you apply for PR you must pay the fee for each applicant.

It is not a problem if your spouse does not travel with you, you can apply for her PR obtain it and then you can travel to Canada and land. At some point in the future you spouse will have to travel to Canada to land.

In the application paperwork you have to list the details of your extended family but you do not submit a PR application for them.

Thx

A

Non-accompanying - no plans to join you in Canada, you do not pay application fee or RPRF. You would need to submit her medicals and PCCs... (to ensure YOUR admissibility). If later she wants to join you, you would need to sponsor her in the family class. In the meantime, there is no guarantee that she would get a visitor visa.

If your plans are to only delay her arrival by 3 months or so, then I would suggest to just include her in the application, pay the fees, and have her land when you are ready (but before the COPR expires). Save yourself the trouble of another PR application...You can land separately, just that the principal applicant (you) have to land first.

One applicant recently made the mistake of selecting "non-accompanying," then had a nasty surprise when there was no COPR for his wife...

Thanks jes_ON. I have decided to apply for both of us. This should save us lot of trouble in future incase we decide to stay in Canada.
The only reason i was exploring these options is going on a job hunt is not always fruitful. ;D ;D ;D

Thank you.
