Applied for inland spousal sponshorship in August of this year through an immigration consultant, PA attempted to register for the PR tracker and asked consultant for the code that was sent to their email. The consultant stated they don't allow client to use PR tracker as it disrupts the representative's access through the portal. I was of the impression that registering for GC Key could cause problems for the representative but I'm unsure whether this is also true for the PR tracker.

Would like some advice/feedback to see if this is true, thank you.

Reasoning sounds weird but it's a normal practice, unfortunately.

Your representative gave you wrong information, you can definitely create PR tracker and that is not going to affect their access, yes you can’t create GCkey account if you have representative but you can for sure have your own PR tracker to check the updates. I have representative as well and they sent me the access code while I was creating my PR tracker. You must tell them and explain that you want to create PR tracker and not GCkey so that isn’t going to affect their access.

Thanks for your response and sharing your experience with your representative, I eplained to them that it is the PR tracker that I want to register for and not GC Key because I have read that you can't create GC Key with a representative. They said no to giving me access to the PR tracker, not sure why.

i can attest that creating tracker account won't affect to your representative's access whatsoever
unfortunately, if they don't want to provide you with the access code, you can't create the tracker account
you will have to rely on them to get update, it's frustrating but there is not much different anyway

You can create your tracker account without disrupting your consultant's access. Be stern and ask for the code. You paid for a service and you should get it regardless! Sounds like your consultant just doesn't want the extra call you might be giving them when you see GUs in tracker. Open it and it will give you better understanding on where your application stands!

Thanks for the response and the info, I figured that I was right when I was telling them it wouldn't affect their access to the representative portal but I conceded thinking they know best. For whatever reason they do not want to give access to the PR tracker, they haven't relayed any information so far as in updates on the application since August but that might be because they haven't heard anything back, not sure. In any case, so I guess I'll just wait until they decide to update me.

Thanks a lot, I feel validated with your response and I figured exactly that, they probably have experience with people calling them a lot while tracking applications but I would have prefered that explanation rather than a blatant lie.

perhaps, like @Hyper1013 has pointed out, they don't want any unnecessary annoyance with the ghost updates and it happened more often that not
nevertheless, i trust that they will provide you with update when there is new one in GCkey, if it's too long between updates you can demand for following up with IRCC
good luck with your application

You could keep calling IRCC on a monthly basis. This way, you would know what's going on with your application. All the best!
