Hi guys. Do you think new government may change requirements about applying Citizenship? Like they will stop counting +1 year until getting pr duration? Or maybe we have to complete 5 years staying in Canada for applying?

Sure, it's certainly possible. Last time the conservatives were in power they made citizenship rules more stringent. The liberals then rolled back those rules when they got into power.

Do you think everybody will be affected? Like some people will be needed last couple months to apply citizenship after conservative elected.

I'm not sure I understand the question. If they make changes, it will depend when they do them. Normally once a change is effective any applications already in progress fall under the old rules and any new applications fall under the new rules.

Agree the typically grandfather people. Think the only caveat may be bringing back the intent to remain clause earlier.

So this means, to get citizenship will be much harder than now. Next year on march i will be completed 3 years but if new government change rules then i will be in very bad situation. Maybe i will have to wait 2 more years ( im not lucky as always. )

I think you're jumping to conclusions. We don't know if they are going to change these laws or not.

The fact your eligible for citizenship, even after 5 years seems pretty lucky to me.

The reality is that it is actually way too easy and not advantageous to Canada if the goal is to retain talent. Most would be shocked that Canada awards citizenship to people who left right after 3 years with no plans on returning. We’ll need to wait and see what happens.
