Most likely yes, but there are no guarantees. Everyone's circumstances are different, and there are too many variables in processing to be certain.

Average processing time is 6-8 months for 80% of the applications at Buffalo.

Yes, I'm aware of official stats, but those reflect conditions of a year ago - they are out of date before they are posted.
Admittedly, it is unknown how representative Trackitt cases are of all applicants, but the mean time for processing for recent approvals (received from July 2010 onwards) is 10 months, and they averaged 2 months for an AOR. Currently, it is taking people 3-4 months just to get an AOR.

More to my point, people's processing times range from 75 days to 576 days. No doubt there are some errors there, but there is a lot of variation...

Do you have the checklist? You have to provide what they want, even if you are from England.

about the processing time, if they say it is 10 months, does it include the time for waiting AOR? or start to count it after get AOR?
I have waited for over 3 months, but still don't get AOR yet. Hopefully they don't forget my case or lose it.

Yes - at least it's included in the data on Trackitt....

Advice needed.

Hey, I have a question with respect to my case. I mailed my application for CEC class on June 21, 2010 at which time the IELTS test to prove english proficiency was not mandatory and so I had not written the test. My application reached Buffalo on June 28, 2010 and they returned my application after 2 months as on June 26, 2010 the new rules had made the IELTS test mandatory. Anyway, I just re-submitted my application after writing the IELTS test which should reach Buffalo maximum Nov 2, 2010. My post graduate work permit (granted for 3 years) expires August 27, 2011. I know that 80% of the cases have official historical statistics for 8 months processing time but following your discussion it appears that it might get delayed. I really dont wish to go back home. I am pursuing a Chartered Accountancy designation and have employment at a training office in Ottawa.

My questions are the following:

1) Given my scenario, is it better to look for options to continue to stay in Canada and not rely on the 8 months processing time for CEC?

2) If I wish to obtain temporary work permit, it is my understanding that my employer has to get a LMO done- I was just wondering if anyone is familiar with the success rate for Chartered accountants LMO as there are a lot of Canadians searching for jobs in this feild.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you!!

There is no guarantee that your application will be finalized before your work permit expires. If you don't want to leave, you will have to learn about your other options, which include (a) renewing your work permit , or (b) changing to a temporary resident permit (you cannot work with the latter)

2) If I wish to obtain temporary work permit, it is my understanding that my employer has to get a LMO done- I was just wondering if anyone is familiar with the success rate for Chartered accountants LMO as there are a lot of Canadians searching for jobs in this feild.

A positive LMO ("Labour Market Opinion") is required for most jobs in order to renew a work permit. You don't say what your current position is (or if you expect to be employed as a "CA" within a few months), or whether your employer is willing to give you a permanent job offer. But if your current occupation is "Skilled" (NOC level O, A, or B), because you are currently on a post graduate work permit (PGWP), your employer does not have to demonstrate recruitment efforts (like they would normally have to do for a foreign worker).
http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/eng/workplaceskills/foreign_workers/intstugrad.shtml

I can't speak to the likelihood of of the approval, however...

Hi,

Since Sawusta mentioned about pursuing Chartered Accountant, I think I may post the question here.

On the work permit it says 'unless authorized, must not attend any educational institution or take any academic, professional or vocational training course'.

I'm planning to pursue Certified Management Accountant, and I'm currently taking the accelerated program online. Does it mean I need to apply for study permit?

Based on my friend' experience (international student) who took CMA (he finished the program now), a lot of students who pursued CMA together with him had work permit AND study permit. Yet, I find it is not possible since study permit doesn't allow us to work full time.

Another situation, my co-worker is pursuing CGA. He is currently taking some courses from campus. He asked the school if he needs study permit since he is a full time worker, and the school said that he didn't need to because he's only part time student.

If anyone would please help me with the answer and advise regarding which rules apply, I'd really appreciate it.

One more thing, when I apply for CEC, is it gonna help my success rate if I tell them and provide evidence that I'm pursuing CMA?

Thank you kindly.
