PR renewal

Hi all, I am a Permanent Resident of Canada and previously renewed my PR card once, approximately six years ago. My current PR card expired one year ago, and I am now preparing to apply for a renewal.

I understand that to maintain PR status, I must meet the residency obligation of 730 days within the last five years. I have calculated my presence in Canada and believe I have accumulated approximately 750 days. However, I have been outside Canada for more than three years within this period, and 360 of the required 730 days were accumulated while my PR card was expired.

I would appreciate clarification on the following points before submitting my application:

  1. Will my extended absence from Canada affect my PR renewal application, despite meeting the 730-day requirement?
  2. Does the fact that 360 days were accumulated after my PR card expired impact my application?
  3. How should I accurately represent my time in and out of Canada in the residency history section of the application?
  4. Are there any additional supporting documents I should include to strengthen my application?
Thank you for your guidance. I look forward to your response.

The fact some days were accrued after pr card expired is irrelevant. Only relevant period is last five years looking back from day you submit application.

You could not have 750 days in last five years if you have also been out of Canada more than three years in that period. Simple arithmetic. 5x365 - 3x365 = 730 days. Check your dates and calcs.

For the rest of your questions, get the forms, read the instructions.
