Hi - I was living in US, got my pr card, didn't come over to Canada for first 3 yrs. and moved when just about 2 yrs. (out of 5 yrs.) were left on my pr card. For first 3 weeks I'd drive on weekends to Canada to set up my base here (taking apartment on rent, setting bank account, checking school for kids etc.) and moved completely in the 4th week (brought over cars, household goods, everything). For PR renewal purpose calculations, the day of the final move was about 15 days over the 2 yr. period (based on original landing date). I have now accumulated 750 days. For PR renewal, is it better (simpler!) to list the first day of my arrival (first day of 3 weeks) as the arrival date or should I just use the date of the 4th week. In other words since I do have 750 days, should I even consider listing the original day of move?

- I also went to Buffalo 7-8 times in 2 yrs. Someone tells me that even the same day return, is counted as being out of country for half a day. Is that true!

- For filling PR renewal (form IMM5444E) for question 21 (dates traveled outside Canada) there seem to be only 4 rows, how do I list more absences! should I attach a printed sheet!

Thanks Guys!

First, I encourage you to print the instructions and guide for renewal and read. Some of your questions and many more things you need to be aware of are there.

This question is not clear. From the date of your application, count 5 years back. In those 5 years, list your absences from Canada. I don't think there is a section that asks for your first day of arrival except "date you became a PR" which is your landing date.

For the PR residency requirements, any part of a day spent in Canada is a day spent in Canada so any of your travel days where you spent a few hours in Canada counts as a full day in Canada. See http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t63854.0.html

Note: If you need more space for any section, use an extra sheet of paper and indicate the number and/or letter of the section you are
completing and submit it along with your application. See page 9 of http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/5445E.PDF
