Dear Leon ,

we became pr in 2008 then went back to home country and came back in 2010 to settle for good.
my wife is employed full time and has completed her 730 days obligation and she has got her pr renewed till 2018. my child is born here and is a Canadian citizen.

My pr expires in June 2013. I would have completed 385 days by then so presently i am unable to fulfill my residency obligation.I run my own consultancy business in several countries and would like to renew my pr as i need to travel for business purpose.

I have my own home and have been paying taxes since 2010.

I want my pr to be renewed on urgent basis. what are my best options. is it better to apply showing that self employed having clients locally and overseas or is it advisable to apply on humanitarian grounds.

your reply is awaited.

thanks.

If you submit a PR renewal application now, it will certainly be refused. You should remain in Canada until you have 730 residency days and have met the residency obligation - and then apply for a renewal. If you cannot remain in Canada for that long, then I would recommend that you abandon your PR status and have your wife sponsor you once you are ready to settle in Canada.

H&C won't work in your case. Self-employment isn't a reason for failing to meet your residency obligation.
