Hello All,
I am a PR of Canada, living in Ontario and am a full time student as well. I work part time at the Univ. We are from India and I saw recently, that the processing time for spousal immigration have gone up to 10 months.
My husband is not yet in Canada and we were in the process to do his sponsorship. He works as the India-Manager for a Canadian company and his Canadian based boss mentioned that he was willing to offer him a similar position in canada, once he gets to canada.

Few months ago ( till Oct 24th to be precise), the processing times were 6 months from NewDelhi and that was really ok ..but with the latest change, we are trying to figure out what would be the best bet to get him here in a shorter time frame.

My questions are:

1) Should we do the spousal immigration thing..and wait that long, even if its gonna pose some problems?
2) ....OR should we do the process with his employer for getting him a work permit for Canada and then take it from there...?

I read on the CIC website today that certain people wont need the LMO...and one of them was Intra-Company transfers.
So,
3) How do I know, if my husband qualifies as that kind of a position with his current status?

Thank you all in advance for all the responses !

1. Probably should start the sponsorship.
2. Intra-company transfer must meet the following"

General requirements
Intra-company transferees may apply for work permits under the general provision if they:
• are currently employed by a multi-national company and seeking entry to work in a parent,
subsidiary, branch, or affiliate of that enterprise;
• are transferring to an enterprise that has a qualifying relationship with the enterprise in which
he or she is currently employed, and will be undertaking employment at a legitimate and
continuing establishment of that company (where 18-24 months can be used as a reasonable
minimum guideline);
• are being transferred to a position in a Executive, Senior Managerial, or Specialized
Knowledge capacity;
• have been employed continuously (via payroll or by contract directly with the company), by the
company that plans to transfer him or her, outside Canada in a similar full-time position (not
accumulated part-time) for at least one year in the three-year period immediately preceding
the date of initial application.
