Good afternoon,
I am already a PR (came as a FSW), have been living in Canada for a year and am getting married and getting a baby with a Canadian citizen next year in spring.
One has to spend 3 years in Canada as a PR to get citizenship, I was wondering if the same applies if you are married to a citizen. Is there a way to get citizenship sooner than that?

Same rules. No - this won't get you citizenship sooner.

I'm not sure if you are interested in living abroad, but as a heads up, the residency requirement for PR and the residency requirement for citizenship work differently, so this confuses people sometimes. Any time you live outside of Canada with your Canadian citizen spouse does count towards your residency requirement for PR. However, it does not count towards the residency requirement for citizenship.

Like scylla mentioned, the citizenship residency requirements are the same for all PRs, regardless of whether or not you are married to a Canadian citizen.

Thank you so much!
