Hello All

I got PR in Sept 2014, will expire in Sept 2019 in provincial nomination. I left Canada after one month to complete my PhD degree. I was awarded PhD in Feb 2017 and started post-doc in the same lab.

Now, I am planning to shift to Canada. Is it possible to go there now? Will they allow me to cross the airport, since I spent more than 4 years outside Canada. What will be my future status for renewal of PR.

I want to find answers to these questions.

Regards

You are still a PR. You do however risk being reported at entry for RO violation. If you are reported the will start the process to revoke your PR status. If they don’t, you should remain in Canada until you do meet RO and avoid interaction with IRCC or CBSA.

To clarify, if you don't get reported you can't sponsor anyone for 2 years and you shouldn't travel outside Canada for 2 years (vacation or business).
