Hi,
Two likely stupid questions but need confirmation, please help
i and my family got our canadian PR cards after completing landing in May 2016 in the highly skilled worked program.We travelled from US to canada and then back in the US.I have finally found a job in canada now and plan to move there permanently.
1) do i need anything else when i travel to canada from US except the PR cards for my family? Whats COPR do i need that
2) Since i got the PR for rest of canada(not montreal) can i work at any location except montreal?

1. Passports + PR cards are sufficient. CoPR is the Confirmation of PR which is the long document you received from IRCC after your PR application approval. You don't need the CoPR if you have your PR cards, but you do want to keep them safe and don't lose them.
2. Yes. You are free to work in any province you may desire.

Thanks Sir, another question my PR card has a validity of 5 yrs asper the dates on the card, so i am assuming i can enter now without validating if for some reason it hasnt been cancelled as i wasnt in canada after landing in may 2016

Yes, that is fine. In fact, the PR card is only for the airline to let you board your flight. You don't even need to show it when you arrive Canada. So, you will be fine as your PR is still valid and you don't need to validate anything. Good Luck!

Sorry for jumping in the thread as I have also a PR related question.PR validity is 5 years but can I stay outside Canada for 5 years or three years after my soft landing ?

Please guide as I am confused due to mix response.

3 years. I would recommend moving before the 3 years is up because then you have no flexibility and will not be able to leave Canada for things like a family emergency. Also PR never expires but you have to meet the residency obligation every 5 years.
