My friend is a PR card holder and her PR expires in October. She recently lost her husband. She wants to keep her PR status but right now
not in a position to go and live in Canada due to financial constraints.

Her only son has just started his university this year in Toronto.

Please advise what options she has. She plans to visit Canada in June 2016.

Thanks

Pre-Assessed..
Does she meet the residency obligation? How much time has she spent in Canada in the past years and when? As a PR, she must have at least 730 days in Canada in her first 5 years as a PR and after she is a PR for 5 years or more, then always in the past 5 years. For example, if she spent 2 full years in Canada, she can leave for up to 3. However, if she's already outside Canada for close to 3 years, her pretty much only chance of keeping her PR is returning now before her PR card expires.
