Hello,

I am a Canadian Permanent Resident currently residing in Canada with my child, who was born in Canada and holds Canadian citizenship. I have been offered a job opportunity in the United States and plan to move my family there. Will the days that I spend with my child abroad count towards my remaining days under the Canadian Permanent Resident status?

I'm not sure as this link doesn't mention my scenario: https://www.ircc.canada.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1466&top=10

Thanks

No, it won't count. You will not get credit for days spent abroad unless you fall into the categories mentioned in the link you shared.

Only thing a Canadian child provides for their non-Canadian parent is the possibility of sponsorship through PGP if the program still exists when they are an adult.
