PR Card Renewal and options to enter Canada

Dear All

My situation is like this. I was sponsored by my Canadian wife. I landed and stayed for 15 days and after that I lived with my Canadian wife aborad and complied with RO and applied for PR renewal on 1st June 2015 and the PR Card expires on 5th November 2015.

Now with the processing time being 5 months, it is unlikely that I will hear anything from CIC till October2015.
If the card comes before that no problem. If the PR Card comes in the mail after that no problem, somebody can bring that to me. But if it is put up for collection in person then I face a problem. Considering all this I have to make a tough decision on what I will do.

Either I have to resign from my job and wind up and enter Canada in October 2015 as it is unlikely that my Company will give me 2/3 months leave to stay in Canada or wait till I get the renewed PR Card which may be in Nov/Dec.2015 and explore the possibility of entering Canada via US/Canada land border by private car. I have read the various issues one can face while trying to do this.

My Immigration Consultant tells me in the past that they have given a letter to the border officials and this has worked for most of their clients. They will charge $ 750 for that.

What things can go wrong in this situation. Will I lose my PR status and in that case can my wife sponsor me again.

My children are also Canadian citizens. I heard that they can sponsor me on Supervisa. What are the practical things applicable to a person on Supervisa. I heard that such a person cannot get OHIP medical card and have to arrange for private medical insurance. Is that permanently or for some years. Can such a person work in Canada or that visa is only for staying in Canada and not for working.

If anybody has experience with such things, please write or you can write your opinion with the knowledge of laws that you have and critically tell me what could happen.

Thank you.

If you have complied with the RO because you have been accompanying a Canadian citizen spouse, you simply apply for a Travel Document to return to Canada to pick up the new PR card.

Thank you for giving me this suggestion. The only concern that I have regarding this is that I am in UAE and sometimes the Embassy here may ask me to cancel my residence visa and go back to Canada

I don,t think they will ask to cancel UAE visa. Many PR people are working in UAE now. Now PR card processing time is around 3 months.

Hi
This is what I learnt about the processing time. It seems it is like this. Now they are processing papers received in April, which means there was down time of 2 months during which the papers were in the Inbox and it will take up to 3 months to process them. So totally it is 5 months.

My consultant tells me that it may take 6 to 8 months.

Yes I know many PRs work in the UAE, but I believe they will work for the first 3 years of the 5 years and go back before 2 years.

They are not in a situation like me.
OK bye
